TLPI's Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts TTA project includes the creation of a tribal-specific foundational training curriculum as Objective 4: Develop and provide Foundational Training, with the following associated tasks:
4.1 Design and develop a tribal-specific foundational training curriculum.
4.2 Pilot test a tribal-specific foundational curriculum (with 2 new THWCs).
4.3 Assess and refine the piloted tribal specific foundational training curriculum.
4.4 Deliver tribal specific foundational training to 10 courts seeking to launch a new THWC.

On June 5th, community members and advocates gathered together to listen and share their experiences and expertise with engaging law enforcement to inform the development of tools and resources to support community organizations and coalitions seeking to improve police-community relationships and promote bias-free and community-informed policing practices.

NCJA is working with Rulo Strategies on this project. This work group convening will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina and will include approximately 18-20 rural representatives from across the country representing elected officials, human service directors and law enforcement leaders. The group will convene to discuss how best to support rural areas in identifying and seeking funding. The tentative agenda for the day and half event is as follows:

The PRC is contracting with Holmes & Associates, Inc. to support the PREA Resource Center (PRC) in putting new Security Incident and Change Management processes into operation, draft Business Continuity Plan (Contingency Plan) framework, create Program of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) for priority areas of cybersecurity, using NIST 800-171 standards as informative guidance, and provide advisory support/guidance and hands-on support for POA&M
implementation items and other information system issues that arise.

PREA Standard 115.21(d) requires agencies to ?attempt to make available to the victim a victim advocate from a rape crisis center. If a rape crisis center is not available to provide victim advocate services, the agency shall make available to provide these services a qualified staff member from a community-based organization, or a qualified agency staff member.? There has been a concerted effort to educate both corrections and advocates about the importance of partnering to provide services to incarcerated survivors.

The PREA Resource Center (PRC) piloted the PREA Academy Investigations Training (PAIT) between November 27,
2023, and February 23, 2024, for corrections professionals responsible for conducting administrative sexual abuse and sexual harassment investigations at their facilities. The 11-week online course included both knowledge and skills-based learning approaches.
