JSS convened over 20 Advisory Board meetings with existing members and added additional experts from the research field and prosecution field. The Advisory Board assisted JSS with policy guidance and undertook three main projects during this reporting period – 1) the creation of a policy guideline for Tribal law enforcement agencies; 2) continued one-on-one outreach to build collaborations with tribal police agencies and their chiefs; and 3) the completion and dissemination of videos to explain BWCs and law enforcement.

The SRTBWC Plan for Outreach to Underserved/ Rural Communities/ Indian Country outlines a systematic strategy to engage, learn and address the TTA needs of law enforcement agencies in Underserved Rural Communities and Indian Country through targeted TTA.

The PSP Capacity Building Grant awarded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is intended to provide state and local prosecutors and local law enforcement agencies who have participated in PSP with funding to secure necessary resources identified in their PSP program assessments that will help reduce crime and increase public safety and trust in the criminal justice system. CNA, in collaboration with IIR, is assisting awarded sites with limited TTA.

Working with Sandstorm marketing firm, we will develop messages designed to resonate with difficult to reach/difficult to engage groups to help promote more diverse and inclusive juries
Juyl-Dec. 2024:Following an open RFP process we contracted with Sandstorm to create a message and conduct related market testing. That messaging and testing is complete, and we are currently working with them to develop the final images and materials that will be a part of a messaging toolkit.

This symposium brought together scholars and educators with experience related to the integration restorative justice into law school curriculum and culture and explored the prevalence and impact of restorative justice education in law schools. Papers from the symposium will be published in an upcoming special issue of The Journal of Legal Education on restorative justice.
