Arlington County (Virginia) leaders will provide an overview of Operation Safe Station. It is a multidisciplinary effort designed to reduce the dangerous impacts of opioids and other drugs in our community and promote treatment options. The County Office of the Commonwealth Attorney, the police department, the sheriff's office, and the department of human services have collaborated to develop a process by which individuals who seek help with their drug use can self-report and receive services without fear of prosecution and incarceration.

The agency expressed interest in creating a diversion program for their community utilizing current resources. The current reliance on the judicial system doesn’t get people the help they need; they return to the community without addressing them. Law enforcement and other first responders are not readily available, and resources cannot be relied on for an immediate response

Tennessee Valley Authority Police are a federal law enforcement agency that is looking to start a Naloxone program. They have been tasked with developing a Naloxone program for our agency. They are a federal law enforcement agency operating in seven states. Although they have a medical director, a physician and have agreed to order the Naloxone for their officers, they wanted to know if there are any federal laws or regulations that must be followed to start the program?

The City of Savannah's leadership is interested in combining both the LEAD Model and a model out of Denver called the STAR Model. They requested TA services to gather more information on diversion programs and hope to make an informed decision on how to begin a program in their community.
