The Rural Executive Management Institute (REMI) is a management education and training program designed to prepare rural law enforcement executives for the unique challenges they face as agency heads of small law enforcement agencies. The purpose of this program is to make training for rural law enforcement agencies both obtainable and affordable. It addresses a variety of management issues confronting rural law enforcement executives, while also providing them with a forum to discuss common problems and explore workable solutions.

Rhode Island is seeking an assessment and re-validation of their existing parole risk instrument. Assessing and refining the existing parole risk instrument will ensure that parole discretion is supplemented with sound research and data.

BJA will commission a White Paper on risk assessment use in state and local sentencing decision making. The final report will be a critical tool to expand BJA's knowledge of how risk information is used, and may impact future BJA funding priorities and strategies.

BJA will identify a provider to facilitate JRI peer-to-peer technical assistance events. Similar events were held in February 2015 to share ideas, resources, and tools from sites involved in JRI efforts. This TA will expand those events to more sites involved in JRI activity.

BJA would like to make a training video specifically on RSAT MAT programming. This video will not focus on just one county RSAT program, but include RSAT MAT programs operating in state prisons and local jails as well as the federal prisons for both men and women. Currently, AHP have identified prison MAT programs we would feature in Missouri as well as Massachusetts as well as a dozen county jail MAT programs across New England.

This 2 day course will provide students with the knowledge and skill set to analyze data obtained from cell service providers, including cell tower logs and call detail records. The free NW3C PerpHoundTM utility will be utilized in the analysis of cell tower records.

Students should possess a solid understanding of computer forensic principles and have experience acquiring forensically-images prior to attending this course.

This class demonstrates best practices in seizing and preserving evidence on a cell phone, through hands-on practicals with the devices.
