The Bureau of Justice Assistance requested that BJA NTTAC pay travel expenses for subject matter experts to attend the two-day BWC Expert Panel. The SMEs will discuss BWC policy and practices, and information shared will support BJA's development of the BWC online toolkit.

BJA requests that Mr. Stewart Bruce speak at the 2015 International Association for Crime Analysts (IACA) Conference . The conference is scheduled for September 22, 2015, in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Bruce will discuss data sharing to improve local crime analysis.

This webinar will review the unique health care needs of incarcerated women and will offer research-based strategies and standards of care for best attending to these issues. In addition to presenting research on contraception, opiate dependence in pregnancy and non-use of restraints with pregnant women, innovative programs such as doula support for pregnant women in custody and pre-release family planning clinics will be discussed.

During this second part of a two-part webinar series, teams from NYDOCCS and ILDOC will be asked to share the highlights of their discussions about the information received during the first webinar: What are their reactions to the GIPA domains presented and their implications for practices within their own agencies? How do the teams plan to proceed to prepare for and conduct a GIPA on one of their women’s facilities? How will team members be involved? How can the NRCJIW coach best assist them to complete a successful GIPA process?

"The NRCJIW will host a two-part webinar series on August 17 and 24, 2015 to acquaint teams from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (NYDOCCS) and the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) with the research that supports gender responsive practices with women, the twelve GIPA domain areas that should be considered to improve practices with women, and the GIPA tool and process. The primary purpose of the webinars is to prepare the teams for the conduct of a formal GIPA self-assessment within their own agencies.

Warren Reich and Sarah Fritsche presented “Complex Criminogenic Needs Predict Six-Month Recidivism in Misdemeanants,” an analysis of the Misdemeanor Assessment Project data, to an audience of researchers at the annual convention of the Association for Psychological Science, New York, NY.
