Julius Lang, Mike Rempel and Katie Crank participated in a three hour skills building workshop entitled “Other Problem-Solving Courts: Engaging the Community and Helping Victims,” with an audience of approximately 100.
Carol Fisler, Josy Hahn, and Sky Davis of the NYS Office of Court Administration gave a presentation entitled “A Dozen Year, Two Dozen Courts: Lessons from New York’s Mental Health Courts” to an audience of approximately 150 judges, court coordinators and administrators, prosecutors, defense attorneys, case managers, treatment professionals, probation officers, and researchers.
At the National Association of Drug Court Professionals National Training Conference on July 28th, 2015, Carol Fisler gave a presentation with Norma Jaeger of the Idaho Supreme Court entitled “From Compliance to Alliance: Using Principles of Recovery, Trauma-Informed Care and Procedural Justice to Improve Outcomes in Co-Occurring Disorder Cases,” to an audience of approximately 100 judges, court coordinators and administrators, prosecutors, defense attorneys, case managers, treatment professionals, and probation officers.
Krista Gehring will provide training on gender-responsive principles and practice and trauma informed services, and on the Inventory of Need (ION), a gender responsive pretrial needs assessment. This 2-day training will be repeated twice: the first day will focus on gender responsive and trauma informed approaches and the second day will focus on the administration and scoring of the Pretrial Inventory of Need, interview and assessment skills, and utilization of the assessment results.
Legal Concerns for Digital Evidence Responders provides a legal background for first responders and investigators who encounter or work with digital evidence. Topics include Fourth Amendment concerns, the importance of getting digital devices into the hands of a forensics expert, recent case law, and practical advice on obtaining and executing search warrants. The modules function as companions to NW3C’s computer crimes classes and may be required as online prerequisites for either instructor-led or online training.
The Basics Computer Skills for Law Enforcement course covers topics related to computer components and the use of the windows operating system. It is designed to help ensure Law Enforcement officers have a fundamental grasp of basic computer components and how to operate a computer using the windows operating system.
The Rural Executive Management Institute (REMI) is a management education and training program designed to prepare rural law enforcement executives for the unique challenges they face as agency heads of small law enforcement agencies. The purpose of this program is to make training for rural law enforcement agencies both obtainable and affordable. It addresses a variety of management issues confronting rural law enforcement executives, while also providing them with a forum to discuss common problems and explore workable solutions.
