BSCC is requesting support in developing a stakeholder survey and report to determine priority areas for Byrne JAG funding. NCJA developed and distributed stakeholder survey for BSCC and upon closure, analyzed and presented results. These results were then shared with BSCC's board during with NCJA supported staff in outlining next steps for support.

This onsite meeting is part of the training and technical assistance provided under the NCJA Strategic Planning TTA (see accompanying TTA entry). The meeting is tentatively schedule for March 4-6, 2018 at the Alabama Department of Economics and Community Affairs.The planned agenda will include a meeting with staff on Monday to prep and practice for a series of town hall meetings across 7 regions of the state.

Outreach about the Strategic Planning TTA program during several events attended by state agencies. At the two-day Institute for State Criminal Justice and Public Safety Executives, co-hosted by the National Governors Association (NGA) and the National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) in December, 2017, SAAs participated in a breakout session in which participants were given an overview of the TTA progra and learned of ways that CJPAs and SAAs can work collaboratively towards CJS plannig and program implementation.

The Indiana state agency administrator (SAA) attended the Institute for State Criminal Justice and Public Safety Executives, held December 14 - 15, 2017 in Charleston, SC. This event, co-hosted with the National Governors Association, included attendance at the SAA breakout session were the NCJA provided information about the SAA TTA program, options for training, and online resources that will be available.

The 2017 National Forum on Criminal Justice: is a true partnership among policymakers, practitioners, researchers and people in the private sector who are dedicated to the ideal of equal justice for all. This conference showcases programs, research and technologies that help justice practitioners and decision makers in states, local communities and tribal nations address pressing public safety issues.

National Criminal Justice Association

The National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) works to promote a balanced approach to communities’ complex public safety, criminal, and juvenile justice system problems. The NCJA offers a number of different opportunities to enhance the professional development of state and local criminal and juvenile justice decisionmakers and policymakers through both educational training and events. NCJA also promotes a variety of events and conferences, all designed to increase networking opportunities and to foster the exchange of valuable knowledge and skills.
