This course provides an approach to healthy eating that considers the unique demands of a law enforcement professionals schedule and lifestyle. You will gain the tools to practice good nutrition for both short and long-term benefits. This is the second course in the STORM (Strategic Training for Organizational Resilience and Mindset) series. STORM provides a multidisciplinary approach through seven dimensions of wellness: physical, mental/emotional, occupational, financial, nutritional, family/social, and mindset.

This fifth course in the STORM series aims to improve financial literacy among law enforcement professionals by highlighting its impact on overall wellness. It begins by helping participants understand the importance of financial goals and motivators, then shifts focus to addressing personal beliefs and mindset around money. Participants learn to analyze their financial histories, create adaptable spending plans, and develop strategies for paying off debt. The course emphasizes the importance of building good habits and saving for future goals.

The Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative (RVCRI) team is thrilled to announce the launch of the third application cohort of the RVCRI Grant Application! RVCRI, funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance and supported by the National Policing Institute (NPI) and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), provides grants and training and technical assistance (TTA) support to law enforcement agencies addressing violent crime challenges in rural areas. Awards will range from $25,000 - $150,000.

Tremonton-Garland noted that they are seeing an increase in school shooting or attack threats, particularly around school breaks or long weekends. They believe it’s kids playing pranks to try to have longer breaks. They also note a complacency in school staff around safety, such as students consistently having knives on them, rifles in their vehicles, and doors unlocked and accessible. The Chief believes its mainly due to the “it can’t happen here” mentality and the prevalence of farming families in the area.

Workshop participants will participate in practical exercises to enhance their ability to interpret complex bloodstain patterns deposited on fabrics, textiles and clothing. This will be accomplished by the participant’s dripping, splashing and transfering liquid blood onto fabrics, textiles, and clothing and observing the macroscopic and microscopic interaction of the blood with the substrate. Workshop participants will also learn to evaluate bloodstain evidence from digital files by working on cases provided in a digital format.
