Field Wide Webinar: FY23 JMHCP and C & P New Grantee General Orientation Part 1: JMHCP and C & P Grant and TTA Overview

In this webinar, CSG Justice Center and Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) staff provided newly awarded grantees with an overview of BJA, the CSG Justice Center, behavioral health diversion and reentry strategies, the Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program (JMHCP), Connect & Protect (C & P), and training and technical (TTA) assistance. Staff also gave critical context about people with behavioral health needs in the criminal justice system.

Field Wide Webinar: Addressing Americans with Disabilities Act Obligations and Access to Care in the Justice System

In this webinar, participants received a brief overview of the Sequential Intercept Model, followed by a presentation on ADA requirements by the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division. Attendees then heard from current JMHCP grantees who have successfully increased access to behavioral health services across the justice system intercepts.

Alternatives to Arrest: Improving School Safety Through Diversion Programming Knowledge College

Recognizing the importance of pre-arrest and pre-court diversions in reducing youth involvement in the justice system, this Knowledge College session, hosted by the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Student, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Specialized Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) for Law Enforcement Program, will focus on improving awareness around diversion strategies and their implementation in school settings.

Safer Schools Community of Practice

Through the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Student, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Specialized Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) for Law Enforcement Program, the Institute for Intergovernmental Research will be convening the Safer Schools Community of Practice. This community of practice will bring together law enforcement officials, school officials, and other stakeholders to address concerns and challenges related to school safety, uplift best practices, and identify resources to support those in the field.
