The Pine County, Minnesota Probation Department requested information on best practices for reducing truancy rates among tribal members enrolled in county schools. BJA NTTAC referred the requestor to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC).

Technical assistance with the implementation of The Drug Market Intervention evidence-based model. This engagement consisted of one day of training, and one day of individual follow-up meetings with stakeholder agencies. Training participants consisted of mainly Camden County Police Department officers (and other ranks), other Camden County personnel, as well as members from the Newark (NJ) VRN site, Wilmington (DE) VRN site, and West Memphis (AR) VRN site.

The New Rochelle Police Department requests the Polis Solutions two-day (16 hour) Tactical Human Dynamics course to improve officers’ skills in social interactions and community trust-building. The Tactical Human Dynamics course is the only police training program that simultaneously addresses the perceptual, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions of social interaction. Diversity Centered & Inclusive Leadership is a transformational, experiential learning based on a workshop that blends diversity/ inclusion learning with leadership development. This intensive 3-day course targeted for Public Safety is also offered in other formats to include: a 4-hour course, a 1-day basic course, and a train-the trainer course. Areas of focus include: Understanding and Embracing Diversity and Inclusion, Building Trust within Law Enforcement and with the Community, Developing High Performance Teams, and Leadership Development.

BJA will commission a White Paper on risk assessment use in state and local sentencing decision making. The final report will be a critical tool to expand BJA's knowledge of how risk information is used, and may impact future BJA funding priorities and strategies.

BJA will identify a provider to facilitate JRI peer-to-peer technical assistance events. Similar events were held in February 2015 to share ideas, resources, and tools from sites involved in JRI efforts. This TA will expand those events to more sites involved in JRI activity.
