This course introduces the information and techniques law enforcement personnel need to safely and methodically collect and preserve digital evidence at a crime scene. Topics include recognizing potential sources of digital evidence; planning and executing a digital evidence-based seizure; and the preservation, packaging, documentation, and transfer of digital evidence.

This course introduces learners to the concept of digital footprints and best practices in protecting personally identifiable information (PII). Topics include limiting an individual’s digital footprint, protecting privacy on social media, and the consequences of oversharing personal information, as well as steps to take after becoming a target of doxing.

This one-day course provides foundational spreadsheeting knowledge and skills to enhance workplace productivity. The course covers basic navigation of Microsoft Excel by combining live demonstrations and hands-on exercises, including the following:

• Working with multiple worksheets within a workbook 
• Hiding, unhiding, and protecting worksheets 
• Adjusting rows and columns 
• Using copy and paste options 
• Finding, selecting, and sorting data

In partnership with the Collaborative Reform Initiate Technical Assistance Center (CRI-TAC) and the COPS Office, the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) will host a webinar on July 28, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST on preparing for college and university students and faculty returning to campus.

It is important to acknowledge that the implementation of body-worn cameras (BWCs) affect various operations and administration, as well as internal and external stakeholders, in significant ways. We are in a prominent time in history where this technology can assist in policing the protests occurring across the country.

Join CNA for their upcoming webinar “Part I: The Role of Police Body-Worn Cameras in Recent Public Protests: Benefits, Challenges, and Solutions” on July 23, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Arizona State University (ASU) recently conducted a survey asking body-worn cameras (BWCs) policy and implementation program sites about their experiences policing the recent protests, value that BWCs added, challenges agencies experienced, and solutions agencies implemented to tackle these challenges.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) will be hosting a webinar on the Ashanti Alert Act, a national notification system for individuals between the ages of 18 and 64.  As a state leader and coordinator in your state, BJA is asking that you participate in this webinar to discuss the possibility of your state becoming a pilot project state.

Review the steps Poarch Band of Creek Indians, Alabama’s only federally recognized tribe, took to overcome jurisdictional barriers to achieve implementation of state legislation known as the Poarch Band of Creek Indians—State Police Powers Act (Alabama Act #2018-393). Review the specific barriers that were overcome such as lack of state recognition, no available copies of memorandums of understanding that were in prior existence, inability to use state academy for training, not honoring tribal courts, etc.
