APPA conducted a Workshop: Strategies for Improving State / Tribal Collaboration in Native American Reentry. The objectives of this Workshop were to provide a brief history of State/Tribal Collaborations from several different states including Minnesota, New Mexico, and Washington.

The NCJA hosted this regional training as part of the NCJA Strategic Planning Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program. The purpose of this training was to provide SAAs with hands-on TTA on the elements of effective strategic planning, data analysis for policy and program evaluation, implementation of evidence-based practices, and coordination with other components of the criminal and juvenile justice system in order to meet the FY2019 requirement of a comprehensive statewide strategic plan as detailed in the Justice for All Reauthorization Act (JFARA).

The second in a series of regional trainings were offered throughout the year to provide hands-on instruction in the areas of strategic planning, developing outcome measures and metrics, strategies for conducting evaluations, determining goals and setting priorities, and working with data. Each session will be scheduled to run one and a half days in three of four NCJA regions. These meetings are as scheduled: April 26-27, 2018 (in conjunction with the NCJA Board meeting) in Tampa, FL; July 26-27, 2018 (following the National Forum on Criminal Justice) in Ft.
