The International Association of Chiefs of Police, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services, has published a guide on Evidence-Based Crime Reduction Strategies for Small, Rural, and Tribal Agencies. This guide aims to provide information on evidence-based policing practices in small, rural, and tribal agencies to help tackle the unique challenges these law enforcement agencies face.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance is seeking applications for its FY 2020 Innovative Prosecution Solutions Training and Technical Assistance Program. One applicant will have the opportunity to provide training and technical assistance (TTA) to agencies involved in the Innovative Prosecution Solutions (IPS) site-based grant program.

This TTA request is entitled "Merging Counter-Terrorism Targeting Methodology and Place-Based Crime Project." It utilizes background and details of a methodology developed at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). This methodology has shown applicability to modeling criminal events and will be demonstrated to the Detroit Police Department (DPD) using their crime events to evaluate the technology. Finally, the technology will be tested in an operational use case.
