After TLPI sent a Publication Announcement for the Joint Jurisdiction Needs Assessment Full Report and Summary Findings, Elizabeth (Betsy) Horsman reached out to Jacob Metoxen at TYRC stating that she had a legal question regarding the appeals process for joint jurisdiction courts they she wanted to ask the authors of this report. She also requested if she could get a speaker on joint jurisdiction courts to present for 30-45 minutes at one of their monthly Advisory Board meetings.

4/7/2022 IIR addressed the Harris County Texas Sheriffs' Department at its regular PSP meeting - Discussed the VALOR program and the TTA and resources available to agency through this BJA-funded program.
At the end of the discussion, Harris County agreed to work on getting VALOR delivered to their agency. Harris County also volunteered to be the training hub for VALOR training to all surrounding agencies.

TLPI Consultant Korey Wahwassuck presented a workshop "Intergovernmental Collaboration in the age of McGirt v Oklahoma" at the American Indian Justice Conference. This presentation will discuss multidisciplinary approaches, Joint Jurisdiction courts, cross system planning, and formalizing collaborations through Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) and more. Completed on 11/3/2021.

Catherine Retana and Heather Valdez Freedman coordinated and provided introductory call with TLPI Consultant Judge William Thorne for tribal state collaboration and tribal state court forum planning and implementation. Amy Hernandez (Domestic Violence Program Coordinator and Justice Courts Program Coordinator, Utah State Courts) , and Bridget Koza, J.D. (Court Improvement Program Director, Utah State Courts) were present.

Kelly Stoner provided a virtual onsite training for Native Alliance Against Violence (NAAV) the Oklahoma Tribal Domestic Violence advocate coalition. The virtual training was provided to discuss drafting enforceable tribal civil protection orders and tribal criminal no contact (protection orders) to meet the needs of and better protect victims whether in tribal civil or criminal courts. Kelly provided instruction and tips for drafting subject matter jurisdiction clauses as well as tailoring remedies to meet victim needs.

The NRTAC staff was invited by IACP to participate virtually and in-person for the 2021 Annual Conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Unfortunately, the in-person conference was canceled due to Hurricane Ida, but the NRTAC panel recorded its presentation for the field via Zoom. The NRTAC panel consisted of three subject matter experts who presented on strategic and innovative community engagement and prevention efforts implemented as part of effective gun violence reduction strategies.

12.7.21 Grantee reached out during Quarterly grantee call asking for resources surrounding legal issues around fentanyl test strips. CHJ connected grantee with colleagues at the Legislative Analysis and Public Policy Association for guidance.
