The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is hosting a Violent Crime Reduction Summit, Partnerships for Safer Communities, on December 11–13, 2023, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The summit aims to bring together partners from across communities working collaboratively to address violent crime. The summit will convene local leadership and federal partners from Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) and National Public Safety Partnership (PSP) sites—approximately 1,500 attendees—to examine and enhance public safety and violence reduction strategies.

On August 11, 2023, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Director Karhlton Moore and BJA Senior Policy Advisor David Lewis visited the Middle Atlantic-Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network (MAGLOCLEN), Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS) Center, in Newtown, Pennsylvania, and the Regional Operations Intelligence Center (ROIC) fusion center, in Ewing Township, New Jersey. A member of the SLATT team, who is a retired New Jersey State Police (NJSP) officer, accompanied BJA leadership and participated in executive level briefings.

The National Center for School Safety, in collaboration with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), hosted a school safety conference in Richmond, VA on August 8th through August 10th for recipients of BJA STOP School Violence Awards and other school safety practitioners.

As part of CHJ's intensive TTA, individual calls will be scheduled with new FY22 grantees. Initial introductory calls included discussion about: the grantees project and deflection initiative; identifying top priorities the grantee have for their program over the next 3-6 months; and discussion to determine at what level of readiness is the grantee’s program currently at to implement these priorities.

TJI provided faculty for a workshop at the 2023 Community Violence Intervention Program annual conference in St Louis, Missouri. The workshop included discussions on using CV program funds to support programming and services to tribal members and communities.

In February, 2023, the SPI TTA team developed a panel submission for the International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Meeting in October 2023 on recruitment and retention issues in policing. The panel will be based on the work of the SPI report on the same topic. BJA received word in June 2023 that the panel was accepted and SPI TTA will be supporting the logistics and potential travel planning for the panel.

TLPI funded a speaker for a workshop at the 2023 American Indian Justice Conference. On May 3, 2023 TLPI Consultant Korey Wahwassuck presented a workshop titled "Joint Jurisdiction Courts 101: An Overview" at the 2023 American Indian Justice Conference. This session introduced tribal courts, tribes, and tribal leaders to Joint Jurisdiction Courts, discussed what they are, how they began, the different models, and provided an opportunity to begin exploring how to implement or develop a Joint Jurisdictional Court.
