Information about the TTA program and options available to state to prepare for new Byrne JAG planning requirements was provided to the NJ SAA during an interview about the state's Byrne JAG expenditures (as part of the NCJA's biennial study of Byrne JAG expenditures). The NJ CJPA attended the Institute for Criminal Justice and Public Safety Executives held Dec 14-15, 2017 in Seattle, WA. Participants were provided with an overview of this TTA program and learned of ways the CJPA and SAA can work collaboratively for CJS plannig and program implementation.
On September 12, 2017, Chief Cynthia Kennedy at the Nebraska Crime Commission initiated contact with the NCJA Senior Policy Advisor, Carol Poole, about the Strategic Planning TTA Project following publication of an article in the NCJA newsletter, Justice Bulletin, about training and technical assistance available to states to help states meet new Byrne JAG strategic planning requirements. On September 14, NCJA staff responded with information about training and technical assistance options and followed-up again on October 28 to discuss local needs.
TJSPP Mentors will facilitate Phase three of the Tribal Justice System Planning Process curriculum. Grantees and mentors will work on developing their justice system strategic plan.
Strategic Planning mentors will facilitate a meeting to continue developing a Justice System Plan for Red Lake and plan for TJSPP PH2 Trg.
Provide onsite TJSPP PH2 training with grantee to support development of TJSPP in accordance with grant deliverable.
