PRC Staff member Teresa Stroud and Director Dana Shoenberg presented in-person training to members of the Council of Juvenile Justice Administrators (CJJA) Summer Business meeting. The meeting is primarily attended by Executive Directors of state Juvenile Justice agencies (or their designee), and Chief Juvenile Probation Officers from locally operated juvenile agencies. The training for this meeting was focused on Staffing Plans. The PRC had a co-presenter, the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer from Bexar County, TX, Jill Mata.

PRC staff member Maren Arbach presented to the CJJA PREA Committee, "You Get What You Inspect". Arbach is a dual-certified auditor and former state correctional agency PREA Coordinator. Arbach provided training on how to monitor a facility for ongoing compliance with the standards by organizing required documentation, use of checklists to ensure ongoing compliance, and tips on monitoring compliance with specific standards to ensure consistent compliance with standards.

PRC staff Teresa Stroud and Director Dana Shoenberg delivered in-person training to a group of new directors and superintendents at the Council of Juvenile Justice Administrators (CJJA) sponsored by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) in Riveria Beach, Florida on September 11, 2024. The training was titled Sexual Safety in Confinement, Opportunities for Leadership.

Ripening States and ProjectsMonthly Updates:In November, the CSG Justice Center focused on following up on previous connections made at the National Summit to Advance States' Criminal Justice Priorities in December 2023. CSG Justice Center staff will continue to utilize the list of priority states to build out stakeholder engagement through the reminder of the year and into 2025.

Ripening States and Projects
Monthly Updates:
In October, the CSG Justice Center remained focused on general ripening activities related to planning for follow-up engagements that will build on connections made at the National Summit to Advance States' Criminal Justice Priorities in December 2023. The CSG Justice Center staff worked to compile a list of priority states and build out a stakeholder engagement list for future follow-up through the reminder of the year and into 2025.
West Virginia

West Virginia:In October, CSG Justice Center staff planned a site visit to Charleston for November 10-13 to meet with key stakeholders, including the speaker of the house, senate president, and chief counsel to the governor, to discuss and finalize the executive order to form a JRI working group. Emails were sent to these stakeholders to request meetings during the November site visit and we are awaiting a response.

Priority Area 1: Assist the three delivery systems with identifying strategies and developing comprehensive statewide supervision recommendations and definitions for community supervision.
Update: In September, CSG Justice Center staff assisted working group members in drafting a framework document for the behavior response grid to present to CSAC in November. Further, CSG Justice Center staff continued to draft recommendations for case planning including identifying outcome and metrics for future reporting.
