11/12: In-person meeting with WV Department of Administrative Services (DAS): CSG Justice Center staff met with Mike Cutlip (Deputy Director), Marty Hatfield (Assistant Director), and Tina Desmond (Director) to discuss the management and funding of Day Report Centers in WV. (3 participant, 1 agency)
11/12: In-person meeting with Senate General Counsel and Chief Counsel to the Governor: CSG Justice Center staff met with Sarah Stewart (Senate General Counsel) and Berkeley Bentley (Chief Counsel to the Governor) to discuss the executive order to form the working group. (2 participant, 2 agency)
In-person meeting with REACH: CSG Justice Center staff met with Bev Sharp (Executive Director) to discuss the WV project and learn more about the reentry landscape and processes in West Virginia. (1 participant, 1 agency)
A site visit was conducted in Charleston, West Virginia on November 11 and 12 to connect with key legislative and executive stakeholders about the executive order to form the working group, attend interim session hearings, and meet with additional stakeholders to perform qualitative analysis.
11/10: In-person meeting with FWD.US: CSG Justice Center staff met with Conrad Lucas (Lobbyist, Right on Crime), Jordan Burgess, Elissa Johnson (VP of Criminal Justice Campaign), and Tinsae Gebriel (VP of Criminal Justice Research and Policy) to discuss the WV project and their policy goals for the 2025 session. (4 people representing 1 agency)
12/04 In-person meeting with Felicia Freeman (Analyst, NC DAC) and Jenn Adams (Program Analyst, NC DAC) to review the final presentation, findings from the data analysis, and policies for further analysis. (2 participants, 1 agency)
The Council of Juvenile Justice Administrators (CJJA) is made up of executive staff leaders of most of the individual states in the US and territories. A PREA Committee meets bi-monthly and is attended by some executive leaders and primarily by state-level Juvenile PREA Coordinators for each state's juvenile justice agency. The National PREA Resource Center (PRC) arranges for speakers and presentations at these meetings based on content requests from the members.
