Use of Force

The CenTF website includes task force-related TTA offerings, both on-site and online, and a wealth of field-related resources. The CenTF website continues to be maintained and monitored by the IIR team.

IIR ensures that, within the Leadership lesson of the 2-day Fundamentals of Task Force Operations Training in-person curriculum, is instruction on the importance of data collection, as well as the value of performance measures to determine and demonstrate the effectives of the task force in addressing and reducing crime. Instruction further includes guidance on setting performance objectives, identifying key performance indicators, and an explanation of how performance measurement is used to develop task force strategies, goals, and objectives.

During the reporting period, at BJA’s direction to develop a new virtual course—the Fundamentals of Task Force Operations training—funding was reprioritized by BJA (via a budget modification) to redirect remaining on-site training funds to support the virtual course development. The budget modification was approved by BJA. No further onsite trainings were provided.

During this reporting period, a new five-part podcast series—Proactive Policing in Today’s Society for Multijurisdictional and Specialty Enforcement Units —was proposed, and approved by BJA, to supplement training opportunities for task force leadership. Host regular biannual in-person meetings of the Advisory Group to coordinate and guide lab activities.
First in-person meeting of the Advisory Group was hosted on 6/5/23 at the June Convening.

Hold a June 2023 convening to mark the first anniversary of the Knowledge Lab, feature resources developed, services offered, and research. Partner with CSG's LE-MH Learning Sites.

Grant funding for The C.A.L.M. Approach - presented by Con10gency Consulting LLC

Provides personnel a safe and practical de-escalation matrix, used to mitigate potential violent encounters. Instructs implementation of communication strategies, safe and efficient control techniques, and awareness and consideration of medical conditions during incidents.

Our department would like all our sworn officers (92) to take the Police to Peace training and certification and are requesting funding for the training.
