The Resilience Training Program was featured on two workshops at the 2022 IACP Annual Conference. The first, Integrating Wellness at the Academy and Entry Levels, highlighted information on how to teach cadets and entry-level officers to understand, identify, and learn healthy strategies for their physical, mental, financial, and family health to ensure their longevity from the time they start the academy to the time they retire. This session addressed how to teach cadets and young officers to identify signs of health and suicide risks within themselves and their fellow officers and how to seek help if needed. In addition, presenters shared strategies for implementing wellness metrics to assess officer health and wellness efforts.
The second workshop, The Mindful Officer, taught participants several mindfulness techniques that they can incorporate into their daily work and personal lives. This presentation featured discussion about issues facing law enforcement that often go overlooked and how mindfulness and resilience can help officers maintain mental wellbeing.
