The session included a brief introduction to the key components of equity, including level setting and shared language, and highlighted information gathered, lessons learned and state strategies identified during the pilot year of NCJA’s new Equity in Grant Administration and Strategic Planning Program.
In addition, Byrne JAG and VOCA administrators from Illinois, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Iowa discussed their work to incorporate equity into their practices for administering federal funding.
Here are links to some of the resources shared during the session:
Iowa discussed program advances which are the opportunity for a funded agency to apply for, and receive, advance grant funds. Advance grant funds are provided to funded agencies or programs in advance of their first claim for reimbursement. The purpose of advance funds is to assist programs with limited operating funds to pay for essential expenses, such as payroll.
PCCD Grant Applicants Readiness Checklist from Pennsylvania is a tool that was created to help applicants determine their readiness to successfully submit an application for funding to PCCD, or if it may make more sense to partner with an organization that is able to meet the required criteria.
