The City of Newburgh, New York Police Department requested assistance through BJA NTTAC to host T3 Trainings offered by POLIS Solutions. Polis Solutions was selected to facilitate the assistance and conducted a three day onsite visit with the agency in July 2019. T3 Tact, Tactics and Trust offered by POLIS Solutions to include the Command Level Training, the one-day Basic Course and the three-day Train the Trainer Course.
While the City of Newburgh Police Department has made significant in-roads regarding reducing violent crime in our city, we still struggle with violence, committed both by individuals and by gangs, and have a significant drug problem that we are collaborating with many partners to try and stem.
Our officers, while dedicated and highly motivated, deal with highly stressful incident types on a regular basis and I am always on the lookout for training that can assist them with stress management and personal wellness.
The third area that I hope this training can address is police-community relations. Our department has done significant work in building trust in the community utilizing transparency and the pillars of Procedural Justice and adding T3 Training for my officers would expand and enhance this process.

By having some of our IDC certified members attend the Train the Trainer course, I believe that this can help us by giving us the ability to reinforce what has been taught by integrating this training into our annual in-service schedule.
