In person on site training for the Agency and surrounding Agencies

The Santa Rosa Police Department would like to invite subject matter experts with a proven track record of success to provide training related to the application of problem-solving methods and recognized best practices into crime reduction strategies. We are looking for one day of hands-on, interactive training for first line supervisors, managers, administrators, and crime analysts. We intend to integrate identified problems and problem areas into the training to provide the attendees and instructors with several options for tailoring the training to local issues.

Our agency has prioritized the need to develop a comprehensive response to those within our community who are experiencing crisis and/or living with mental illness, in order to best assist them and connect them with services in the community. Our first priority is to provide training to our officers to better equip them with the skills and knowledge to de-escalate crises and be better able to assist those in crisis. Building upon the success of our past TTA with the BJA, we are requesting the assistance of the BJA to support another CIT training.

We would like to recive training on the CVIPI process and how we implement the model in our organization and work with our partners statewide to also support their use of the structure and model.

Assistance from the PCE as to how to implement the identified changes to the workflow of the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s office in an effort to better address the current backlog of cases, and prevent further disruption to the administration of justice.

Street Cop: Effective Policing Skills and Tactics is a training course that takes a deep-dive into street level proactive policing skills and tactics. This course provides the tools and the game plan to the student, so they leave at the end of the day and can be an effective police officer against the criminal element, every single shift. The skills and tactics taught here are universal in police work across the country, focusing on elements of criminal behavior that exist everywhere.

Funding assistance to obtain an adequate number of licenses for the Police2Peace program to cover the entire agency including all sworn, and civilian staff as well as the municipalities elected officials and administrative staff. The breakdown of the licenses needed for those categories is as follows:

Sworn officers: 80
Police leaders: 12
Police Associates/Representatives: 15
Elected officials: 15

Total licenses: 122

I am requesting TTA assistance in acquiring training that moves us towards a peace officer organization through the police2peace movement.

Additionally, I am requesting TTA assistance in acquiring training through the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute for Policing.

Grant funding for The C.A.L.M. Approach - presented by Con10gency Consulting LLC

Provides personnel a safe and practical de-escalation matrix, used to mitigate potential violent encounters. Instructs implementation of communication strategies, safe and efficient control techniques, and awareness and consideration of medical conditions during incidents.

Instructor certificates for multiple officers in the training department needed. Coursework and materials for ongoing training to the credentialed police officers of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
