In August 2014 the City of Wilmington was selected to participate in the DOJ's Violence Reduction Network. Within this program, over the next two years Wilmington will be seeking assistance from the BJA in the areas of technology, crime analysis, intelligence, grant preparation and community building.

How do you anticipate that the requested assistance will address the problems?
Assistance in technology, crime analysis and intelligence gathering will allow the department to enhence their current crime analysis capibilities and better analyze crime data, creating the ability to make informed decisions. Training in grant preparation will allow the department to be able to better identify federal funding sources, enhence their ability to be competitive, and obtain resources. Training in community building will create stronger relationships between police and the community, which will sustain gains in crime reduction.
