Dr. Maryann Mason was contacted by Cassie Sun with the Institute for Public Health and Medicine at Northwestern University. She was interviewed about opioid overdoses among older adults and possible intervention opportunities to prevent older adults from an unintentional drug overdose. Dr. Mason's responses were included in an article titled "The unseen epidemic: opioid overdoses among older adults" published on 08/20/2024.
Regular engagement with Massachusetts Department of Public Safety to check in on subgrantee acquisition, COSSUP onboarding process. Subcontracts not yet executed due to Governor's Office delays. Site working on submitting Action Plan.
Regular engagement with Massachusetts Department of Public Safety to check in on subgrantee acquisition, COSSUP onboarding process. Goal of July 1-15 for subcontract execution for all subgrantees. Site continuing to meeting with evaluator.
COSSUP Needs Assessment with Massachusetts Department of Public Safety Project Director and Evaluator. Reviewed implementation strategies and anticipated challenges. RTI to reach out and schedule Q3 call for updates on subgrantee acquisition status.
Kick-Off Call with Massachusetts Department of Public Safety, RTI TTA Team, BJA PA Michelle White. RTI Team provided overview of COSSUP grant requirements. BJA provided feedback on grant plans, subgrantee acquisition process.
Held Check-in Call with State agency and FY20 subgrantees and FY23 evaluator. FY20 grantees provided updates and discussed wrapping up grant. Let us know that they did apply for NCE but have not heard back yet. State provided updates on FY23 grant and are on track. They released the RFP and are in the process of deciding on subgrantees. No other TTA needs.
"During their statewide Naloxone distribution and evaluation presentation, several of the public health district subgrantees mentioned that their naloxone presentations, given tocommunity members and other groups, are outdated. Specifically, they are looking for updated information on emerging drugs and drug trends, etc.
7/23/24: Met with public health districts to present draft slides and get their input on what should be added
9/10/24: Sent slides to Idaho. Will continue to work on updating information that has not yet been updated.

Virtually attended presentation where all seven public health districts presented updated from their naloxone education and distribution programs.
Conducted Check-in call with State Agency. Heard about updates for each component of their program and introduced new site coach, Jenn. State agency received NCE and is planning to apply for 2025 funding.
