Explore and discuss the application of Forensic Genetic Genealogy (FGG) and the ways it aids in investigations. Techniques instructed will include tips in using genealogy to help establish the identities of cold case suspects and assist with identifying human remains. Instruction is provided by experienced investigators who have gained expert knowledge in their application of forensic genetic genealogy through real-life cases.

The SAKI Leadership Academy supports participating law enforcement executives by providing the opportunity to expand and strengthen their knowledge on tools and resources for enhanced leadership, organizational and operational sexual assault response efforts within the framework of violent crime reduction strategies. The workshop will feature a series of interactive sessions, providing an opportunity for participants to share experiences, gain insights, and learn from one another.

The SAKI TTA Regional Trainings allow cold case sexual assault investigators from federal, state, and local criminal justice agencies to learn recommended practices to address sexual assault response and reduce violent crime. The Suspect Interviewing training, hosted in Research Triangle Park, NC, will host opportunities for attendees to learn suspect interviewing techniques specific to cold case sexual assaults and violent crimes. It is designed for law enforcement officers and prosecutors who are involved in investigations, interrogations, and interview processes.

Connecticut DESPP was awarded a grant to develop an Annual SAK Inventory Policy to ensure timely submission of SAKs for testing, develop potential legislative changes, enhance existing sexual assault response policies, establish mandatory training for law enforcement personnel, and require regular convening of MDT working groups in local jurisdictions. The SAKI TTA PA5 Assessment Team conducted a 2-day in-person site visit to review assessment findings and discuss next steps.
