CJI hosted a roundtable discussion in-person at the Good Road Recovery Center in Mandan on 7/17/24. Participants included Native individuals affiliated with North Dakota’s MHA tribal nation who have lived experienced with the justice system.
On 1/8/25, the National Policing Institute hosted a convening of national law enforcement stakeholder organizations to discuss guidance for the certification of de-escalation training programs. In total, twelve participants from nine national law enforcement organizations attended the convening and provided their perspectives on critical content for de-escalation training, standards for training dose and delivery, and the scalability of standards. Insights shared by convening participants will directly inform the development of national standards for de-escalation training.
Email exchange to coordinate meetings for the Locative Technology Workgroup which will host the Locative Technology: Alzheimer's and Dementia Listening Session.
Met with the implementation team to debrief the presentation to wardens and IDOC executive team, discuss RISE programming and activities, and review a proposed point system for tracking daily behaviors.
Met with Peer Mentor/Educator subgroup to determine how to use peer mentors in the RISE program and how to select them.
Facilitated a meeting with Illinois DOC leadership to share implementation team progress and discuss how they could help. Facilitated an exercise with implementation team to inform the messages they will share with staff about the change.
USVI LEPC requested NCJA assistance in facilitating discussions with their stakeholders regarding the newly implemented USVI behavioral health act and criminal justice data sharing over the course of two days. Day 1 focused on SIM mapping and discussions of regarding risk factors, community responses and environmental designs related to the behavioral health act and criminal justice policy programming. I acted in a support role via note-taking for the the NCJA facilitators.
Facilitated a discussion with the implementation team preparing for leadership presentations. Assisted the team in presenting the RISE Program to all IDOC wardens and executive leaders.
