NW3C is sending staff Jeff Lybarger to run the NW3C/BJA exhibit at the 2024 National Public Safety Partnership (PSP) 10th Anniversary Summit: Building Safer Communities Together to communicate the resources offered by BJA/NW3C.

As a member of IPAC, NW3C will send two staff, Jeff Lybarger and Glen Gainer, to attend the IPAC Meeting. They will engage in discussions on helping to ensure that training and standards meet the needs of the Public Safety industry, promoting the adoption of best practices, and providing IADLEST with perspectives and recommendations regarding selected IADLEST projects and initiatives.

The January meeting brought together subject matter experts, coaches, and stakeholders to discuss strategies for implementing effective programs addressing substance use disorder in jails. Participants explored best practices, common barriers, and solutions, with insights from law enforcement and healthcare professionals. The meeting also introduced team assessments to guide data-driven decision-making and foster collaboration.

The Building Bridges Virtual Orientation introduced key stakeholders, outlined the initiative’s goals and expectations, and provided insight into treating substance use disorder in jails. Subject matter experts and coaches shared their expertise, followed by a discussion with Building Bridges alumni to offer real-world perspectives. The meeting will conclude with a Q&A session and a review of next steps.

The Building Bridges initiative helps jails expand access to opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment both during incarceration and upon reentry into the community. Selected sites receive intensive training and technical assistance to support the implementation of medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Each team or individual is assigned a site liaison for monthly check-ins, resource sharing, support, and next-step planning.
