The Police Reform Experience webinar series is designed to facilitate insightful panel discussions with senior representatives from cities that have implemented significant reforms. Each webinar will spotlight successful strategies employed by these agencies in key areas such as policy development, training, accountability systems, and data management. The first session will feature the experiences of the Seattle and Los Angeles police departments in advancing reform efforts. Subsequent webinars will delve into specific topics, allowing viewers to engage based on their interests.
The NRTAC hosted the 8th Annual Regional CGIC Multi-Site Training in Miami, Florida. The Miami CGIC assisted in organizing the conference and invited participating CGIC grantees to tour their facilities. The conference was a mix of panel presentations and breakout sessions. Presentation topics included executive buy-in, CGIC successes, the role of the intelligence analyst in a CGIC, and CGIC case prosecution.
The National Policing Institute and the NRTAC team were invited by the ATF to attend the third annual ATF Chiefs of Police Executive Forum on Crime Guns. NRTAC personnel set up an exhibition booth to present the work of the Institute and showcase available CGIC resources to conference attendees. Additionally, Alan Hughes from the NRTAC and Kristie Brackens from the BJA participated in an informational session to inform attendees of BJA’s grant funding opportunities, including BJA’s local CGIC grant.
Our analyst presented on No Code, No Problem, and presented with one of the CAR sites on their successes in the program titled "Minutes Matter".

SPI sites presenting at the POP conference in Baltimore in September.
Members of the team presented at the conference on "No Code, No Problem" which discussed using free AI tools like ChatGPT to create code for Microsoft Access and SQL.
The SPI will present four panels and a discussion round table at this year's American Society of Criminology on November 13-16 in San Francisco. Each of the panels will highlight the research and implementation of SPI sites. The panels will include researcher and practitioner to discuss their SPI efforts including successes, challenges, and insights for fellow researchers and agencies on SPI topics.
