Delivered two presentations on correctional officer safety and wellness. We also attended correctional presentations for further development.

Rulo facilitated a workshop highlighting the Comprehensive Opioid and Stimulant Substance Use Program (COSSUP), which agencies around the country have used to pilot efforts to address substance use disorder (SUD). The expert panel highlighted one successful program initiated with COSSUP funding that has incorporated treatment case management software, data, and evidence-based strategies to address SUD and behavioral health.

The CSG Justice Center hosted the 2024 SCA Conference....

Through focus groups with students from three HBCUs, the BJA Advancing Service-oriented Policing through Inclusion, Relationship-building, & Engagement (ASPIRE) project identified barriers students experience to entering a career in policing. Speakers will discuss challenges police agencies should consider when designing recruitment efforts to attract a more diverse workforce. These include students’ safety concerns, general negative perceptions of police, perceived police corruption and unfair treatment of black and brown communities, and lack of diverse police role models.
