Site visit - September 9 -12, the CSG Justice Center staff traveled to North Carolina to meet with NC DAC staff and House Justice Public Safety Members to discuss current project goals and gauge interest in future JRI work.

8/22: CSG Justice Center met with Rob Jeffreys (Director, NDCS), Dawn Renee Smith (Deputy Director, Rehabilitative Services, NDCS) and Janee Pannkuk (Assistant Deputy Director, Reentry, NDCS) at the Central Office in Lincoln, NE to debrief the site visit and discuss additional oversight responsibilities and the allocation of resources, with a focus on enhancing reentry programs to improve parole outcomes. 8/22: CSG Justice Center staff met with Janee Pannkuk (Assistant Deputy Director, Reentry, NDCS) at the Central Office in Lincoln, NE, to discuss parole supervision oversight and its intersection with institutional reentry staff, focusing on aligning reentry efforts across agencies. 8/21: CSG Justice Center staff also conducted a one-on-one meeting with Ken Quinn (Assistant Director of Supervision and Services, NDCS) to discuss parole supervision leadership and management. (1 participant, 1 agency)

8/21: CSG Justice Center conducted a focus group discussion with five Lincoln CSS parole supervision officers, gathering feedback on field operations and parole supervision challenges. (5 participants, 1 agency)

8/21: Justice Center staff observed three one on one meetings with Lincoln CSS Parole Officers focusing on client supervision and risk assessment practices to include their use of EPICS and supervision standards. (3 participants, 1 agency)

8/21: CSG Justice Center staff met with Denny Campbell (Training & Staff Development Manager, NDCS) at the Lincoln CSS Office to discuss staff training, CSS Parole Officer Academy, staff development, and the overall parole supervision structure. (1 participant, 1 agency)

8/14: CSG Justice Center staff met Rich Marquez (Justice Service Program Director, Latino Coalition for Community Leadership) looking to understand the criminal justice system dynamics, the government/political dynamics, the landscape of advocates, and the interplay of the unique relationships of the stakeholders.
