NDCRC Co-directors Dr. Christina Lanier and Dr. Kristen DeVall are working with Dr. Jacqueline Van Wormer of NADCP to collect information on peer recovery support specialists (PRSS). Survey information includes the scope of the role and how treatment courts are utilizing PRSS. The survey opened on November 8, 2021 and was intended to close January 12, 2022. The survey was reopened to allow additional responses in Idaho and closed officially on 2/28/2022.

Utilizing Peer Support to Improve Health and Wellness of People with Mental Illness

Peer support specialists offer unique skills that can drastically enhance services using their lived experience to support those with mental health and substance use conditions. Their shared experiences can help to bridge interpersonal and instrumental barriers to accomplishing the health and wellness goals of those in recovery.

On Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM EST, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) hosted a webinar for Enhanced Collaborative Model (ECM) human trafficking task forces on task force sustainability planning. Developing and implementing a sustainability plan is a critical element in achieving task force success and longevity, and is a requirement of the ECM program.
