The University of Alabama at Birmingham Treatment Alternatives for Safer Communities requested an assessment of the Jefferson County court system to address the rate of failures to appear. The Pretrial Justice Institute was selected to fulfill the request. The requestor withdrew the request.

Request assistance in evaluating our current system and to look at making system alterations, for a reduction in FTA's that are generated for individuals that are released from the Jefferson County, AL Jail.
1. Improved options to provide information to the individuals bonding out of jail.
2. Options to update technology to alert individuals to court dates.
3. Looking at other ways to reduce FTA's --Pre-diversion options.

National District Attorney's Association

The National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) was formed in 1950 by local prosecutors to give a focal point to advance their causes and issues at the national level. NDAA representatives regularly meet with the Department of Justice, members of Congress, and other national associations to represent the views of prosecutors to influence federal and national policies and programs that affect law enforcement and prosecution.
