Our partner from AEquitas, Jane Anderson, was approached by an Assistant Attorney General prosecuting a labor trafficking case and asked for further assistance with expert witness testimony and T Visas. Jane had a call with her to provide assistance.

This virtual training event is a delivery under Cooperative Agreement 2017-VT-BX-K101, in order to equip law enforcement and prosecutors with knowledge, understanding, and proven practices for anti-labor trafficking identification, investigations, and prosecutions. Labor Trafficking training is priority for the law enforcement field across the country, and this delivery addresses that demand from the field.

The IACP received a request from Rachel Parker, Program Manger, World Relief Triad, in regards to forced begging/peddling and sales crews. Rachel also requested to be put into contact with someone in the field that had experience with intervention strategies pertaining to this topic. The IACP tasked Theresa Nietzel, Detective, Erie County Sheriff's Office, with coordinating a response to the technical assistance request. Detective Nietzel was able to provide Rachel Parker with experience and strategies she has used within her agency.

Had one AEquitas partner present the labor trafficking training to EEOC staff in Georgia. This training took place on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the EEOC Atlanta District.

While IACP was onsite for the delivery of the Labor Trafficking training in San Antonio, TX, Lindy Borchadt, Assistant Criminal District Attorney, Tarrant County DA's Office, requested more information on how to build an evidence-based human trafficking case, as well as how to successfully use expert witnesses at trial. IACP tasked Jane Anderson, Attorney Advisor, AEquitas, with responding to this technical assistance request. Jane provided Lindy with resources on building an evidence-based human trafficking case, as well as using expert witnesses at trial.

The IACP collaborated with the Hidalgo County District Attorney's Office and participated in the one day Labor Trafficking Conference by delivering labor trafficking curriculum to local law enforcement, prosecutors, and victim service providers. This training was onsite in Edinburg, Texas.
