The National Police Foundation (NPF), Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCCA), and the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) are collaborating together to provide a COVID-19 briefing for law enforcement executives from the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC’s) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and Public Health Service (PHS).

Teen dating violence, also known as adolescent relationship abuse, is a serious, widespread issue that has both short- and long-term consequences. Teen dating violence may occur in-person or electronically and consists of physical, psychological, or sexual abuse, as well as stalking.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Early Warning Advisory (EWA) on new psychoactive substances (NPS) was launched in June 2013 as a response to the emergence of NPS at the global level. The EWA aims to monitor, analyze, and report trends on NPS as a basis for effective evidence-based policy responses. It also serves as a repository for information/data on these substances and a platform for providing technical assistance, tools, and relevant analytical information for national drug testing and toxicology laboratories in member states.

The American Indian Justice Conference (AIJC) will provide training to tribal communities to enhance their response to alcohol and drug abuse, enable them to recognize how trauma impacts drug and alcohol abuse in tribal communities, and to identify current trends and best practices for tribal justice systems to strengthen multidisciplinary approaches to healing and justice.

Counties across the country have committed to creating data-driven, systems-level plans to reduce the number of people with mental illnesses in their jails. As part of these efforts, many communities are focusing on the small number of people who frequently cycle in and out of emergency rooms, shelters, crisis services, and the justice system, a population that disproportionately contributes to the high utilization of these resources.
