Quinault Chief Judge Leona Colegrove submitted a General Inquiry Request for vicarious trauma training for her Healing to Wellness court staff. Chief Judge Colegrove specifically requested a training that was more comprehensive than a general "what is vicarious trauma" training. The general plan was to include how vicarious trauma shows up, what court staff can do to alleviate, how staff can support each other, how management/leadership can mitigate the effect on staff, etc.

The NRTAC team provided three onsite training sessions on Firearms Identification and Crime Gun Intelligence Exploitation for the Bridgeport (CT) Police Department, with subject matter expert Mark Kraft delivering the content. The training informed attendees about how to identify a firearm for accurate trace results and how crime gun intelligence can be used to investigate and prosecute NIBIN-related cases.

The NRTAC team provided two onsite training sessions—one on firearms identification and one on interviewing victims and witnesses in a crime gun investigation—for investigators from law enforcement agencies throughout Connecticut. Subject matter experts Mark Kraft and Kevin Armbruster delivered the content. The training informed attendees how to identify a firearm for accurate trace results and how to effectively engage and interview victims and witnesses to foster collaboration in a crime gun investigation. The Illinois Courts Probation Services Division supervise the administration of county-operated juvenile detention facilities in the state. Three of eleven have opted on their own to pursue PREA certification and have been successful. The remaining eight had not pursued PREA certification. The Division anticipates legislation upcoming that will require the detention centers to be compliant with PREA and pursue certification and requested that a PRC staff member speak to the group about the benefits of certification and first steps in PREA implementation.

Rising Ground, a juvenile agency in New York, NY requested their PREA employee, contractor and volunteer training curriculum to be reviewed. Rising Ground contracts with the City of New York Administration for Children's Service to provide juvenile services for one secure and six non-secure facilities.

Wyoming Department of Corrections Honor Farm in Riverton, WY had a PREA audit and received a corrective action plan to have staff trained on Standard 115.62 regarding the steps for placement of a victim in SMU. They also requested training on Standard 115.71 (c). A three-hour virtual training was scheduled for December 9, 2024.

Provide support to Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (CCJTDC) in Chicago, IL for policy changes made by the rape crisis center they work with that supports survivors of sexual abuse at CCJTDC.

Provide a two day, in-person, specialized training: Investigating Sexual Abuse and Sexual Harassment for the Essex County Sheriff's Department in Middleton, MA. The training will include other adult agencies around the area and possibly NY. The training was scheduled for November 20-21, 2024 but rescheduled to February 4-6, 2025. The training topics will consist of investigating sexual abuse and sexual harassment in confinement settings and include a local prosecutor and advocate.

Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center (BCMDC) located in Albuquerque, NM requested a review of and recommendations for revisions to their PREA policies. The BCMDC has undergone and passed three PREA audits; however, they have a new warden who wants to make sure their policies align with the standards and is interested in recommendations for how to make them even more robust.
