This course will provide insight and information on the topic of wellness and mental health, focusing on stress and resilience in everyday policing. At the conclusion of this course, you will understand how stress affects the brain, alters behaviors and feelings, and tools to build resilience. It is imperative that law enforcement officers understand that to take care of others you must take care of yourself first. Wellness and mental health training is not an option, but a requirement to ensure you can sustain a healthy career and personal life.

This course provides an approach to healthy eating that considers the unique demands of a law enforcement professionals schedule and lifestyle. You will gain the tools to practice good nutrition for both short and long-term benefits. This is the second course in the STORM (Strategic Training for Organizational Resilience and Mindset) series. STORM provides a multidisciplinary approach through seven dimensions of wellness: physical, mental/emotional, occupational, financial, nutritional, family/social, and mindset.

Participants learn to analyze their financial histories, create adaptable spending plans, and develop strategies for paying off debt. The course emphasizes the importance of building good habits and saving for future goals.

The sixth course in the STORM series explores the unique dynamics of law enforcement as a family-centered occupation, emphasizing the ripple effects of officers experiences on their families. It addresses the challenges law enforcement families face, such as long hours, public scrutiny, and emotional detachment, and highlights the importance of resilience, adaptability, and clear communication to overcome these obstacles. Strategies for building resilience are provided, including fostering positive family interactions, addressing emotional needs, and creating supportive networks.
