Vera provided implementation TTA to the Virginia DOC (VADOC) in the following ways:
January -
Vera exchanged emails with VADOC which lead to finalizing the contacting agreement between VADOC and Vera. Vera worked with the DOC site lead to post the site description on Vera's online SAS Initiative resource website
February -
There was an initial phone conference with VADOC project lead to introduce Vera's Virginia team and to discuss composition of Segregation Reduction Committee (SRC). There was also a phone conference which included a review of initial plans for first site visit including preliminary discussion about visiting and holding facility meetings at two facilities during the initial site visit.
March -
Vera conducted a phone call with VADOC to review the RFP requirements for establishing the multidisciplinary body to serve as the SRC for the duration of the project. The discussion included an overview of existing VADOC groups that DOC lead believed could be re-purposed to be the SRC.
April -
Vera began its initial site visit at VADOC headquarters starting with all day kickoff meeting with VADOC leadership. Vera traveled to the Greensville and Buckingham correctional facilities for facility tours and facility visit meetings with both wardens and select staff from each facility.
