During the January – June 2016 reporting period, IIR staff worked closely with BJA, Global, and CICC leadership to determine the ongoing and new priorities for Global and the CICC. Significant discussions to advance these decisions occurred during the Spring 2016 GESC Strategic Planning Session, held May 18-9 at the Office of Justice Programs offices. IIR staff members maintained regular contact with the chair and vice chair of the GAC, as well as with the Designated Federal Official of Global, to ensure that the GESC event was well-prepared for, including arrangement of meeting logistics, development of meeting agendas, follow-up of assignments and action items from previous meetings, notification to the GESC membership of meeting logistics and agenda items to be discussed, invitation of presenters and honored guests, facilitation of the meetings, documentation of meeting proceedings, and processing of reimbursements. The agenda and follow-up activities for this event included identification of potential priority topics by Global and CICC members, supported by IIR; estimation of costs for each priority area by IIR staff members; an assessment of current funding within the grant by IIR; assessment of expected funding for 2016 by IIR; coordination among federal partners by BJA and IIR; and development of funding matrices, identifying priority topics and funding source, by IIR. The result of this extensive work included the identification of the 2016 ongoing and new priorities for Global and the CICC that will be supported by BJA, CICC priorities that will be supported via other federal partners (in coordination with the CICC), and areas where task teams can be retired in consideration of either completion of the original charters or the evolution of Global and BJA priorities and processes.
