The PRC coordinates and produces trainings to train qualified individuals to become certified as DOJ PREA Auditors. The PRC secures a location, develops training materials, invites and coordinates partner faculty to assist in training, and coordinates lodging for all attendees. The PRC invites 75-100 qualified individuals to attend training. Individuals apply and provide information regarding their qualifications. When the PRC receives and application, designated staff members review and either approve their qualifications and recommend them for invitation or deem them unqualified. Before each training, the PRC invites a group to attend and, when the group is finalized, begins preparing them for training. This includes sending out advance work the group is expected to complete, as well as sending finalized training materials in advance of training. The training itself includes of 5 full days and a qualifying online examination at the end. The training consists of both direct presentation modules with PowerPoints as well as small-group work and interview practice with role playing. Once the training is complete, PRC staff grade the exams and recommend those individuals who passed for certification.
