The Basic Crime Prevention Course is a three-day course designed for those who work in the law enforcement and crime prevention arena. It provides an introduction to opportunity based crime prevention. The training will prepare participants to understand and deliver basic crime prevention services when they return to their home community. Participants will learn about the development of crime prevention and understand the various types of crime prevention and which techniques are best. Participants will begin to see how researching and keeping current data on crime trends can aid in preventing future crime. This training is conducted through lecture, group exercises and practical group exercise with teams conducting and reporting on security assessments of a variety of location, which may: convenience stores, schools, office buildings, parking decks, post offices and other locations.

Sheriff Pat Hankins gave the opening speech

In attendance were the following:

This training received an overwhelming support from the community. The day before the training the U.S. Chamber of Commerce hosted an evening get together with all of the above in attendance as well as council members.
