- The KS SAA requested assistance with both a stakeholder engagement survey and with a strategic planning workshop for the SAA's governing body.
-NCJA staff David Marimon furnished the SAA with multiple stakeholder surveys. NCJA and SAA staff worked together to refine the instrument and produce what will become the states stakeholder engagement survey. In April the SAA will launch the survey. In addition NCJA staff member David S will be deployed to provide the commission with a strategic planning workshop.
-In April of 2014 NCJA staff David Steingraber went out to Kansas to facilitate the KCJCC’s Byrne JAG Strategic Planning session. While there DS discovered that the planning body was interested in more formal and wide ranging planning. After a facilitated discussion related to mission, vision and a SWAT analysis the planning body addressed their new JAG priorities. After some discussion there were six priorities selected
Six priorities for Kansas’s JAG funds were identified:
1. Evidence-based practices that address mental illness throughout the Kansas criminal justice system.
2. Evidence-based program providing treatment for substance misusers.
3. Efforts to maintain stability for the core functions of the Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS).
4. Technology improvements for local law enforcement agencies that support officer safety or the implementation of other identified JAG priorities.
5. Initiatives to improve the assistance of victims of crime.
6. Projects that enhance the functionality of the Kansas Criminal Justice Information System.
