Report and Model Code Repositories
In November, CSG Justice Center staff began uploading reports from states that have agreed to have their reports hosted on the site. These include Alabama, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, and Vermont.
Community Forum and Office Hours
As of November, 153 corrections professionals from 42 states and Washington, DC are registered for the forum. Some topics posted to the forum in November included mental health and substance abuse screenings, annual reports, the role of AI in corrections, and Offender Management Systems.
CSG Justice Center staff held office hours on November 5 and November 19. On November 5, 10 corrections professionals from Idaho, Missouri, Montana, Texas, Washington, and Washington DC attended office hours. The discussion focused on how to handle policy changes that come with a new administration. On November 19, 9 corrections professionals from Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina Vermont, and Washington attended office hours. The discussion focused on analyses being prepared before the start of the legislative session.
Seminar Series
CSG Justice Center staff continued planning for the next Seminar Series, "Transforming Corrections: How Research and Analytics Can Improve Prison Safety". The seminar will feature a presentation by Iowa's Department of Corrections' Research Director and will be held on December 17.
Limited Technical Assistance (TA) Engagements
CSG Justice Center staff began planning for limited TA engagement with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry and the Utah Department of Corrections, facilitating peer networking conversations about how their systems use data. The potential TA topics include prison population projections, KPIs across systems, data/intelligence sharing and use with drug and cell phone interdiction, and technology around data.
Advancing Data in Corrections Website
CSG Justice Center staff began to plan to expand the footprint and refine the design of the Advancing Data in Corrections website, which will include sub-sites for both Virtual Academy and Resident Analyst programs.
