Objective 1: Individualized Technical Assistance to Grantees
Since the implementation of the Anger Management on Parole program in April 2024, TDCJ reported in December that they successfully graduated 116 participants from the program. TDCJ reported a small disruption in the second week of the cohort seven's program, due to the IT Division losing the paperwork for clearance to utilize the GoTo Webinar software. Once the paperwork was resent, they were permitted to reestablish programming for cohort 7on November 18, and there are currently 95 active participants. The remaining 43 individuals remaining on the waiting list will be enrolled in cohort 8.
TDCJ reported that there were some IT issues regarding phone lines and are in discussion to obtain cell phones for the two staff members hired under the grant to make successful contact with program participants.
TDCJ continued to discuss submitting a grant award modification (GAM) with the budget office regarding the potential of hiring a program specialist 1 to assist the community corrections officers (CCOs) with assessments and enrollment into cohorts now that the program is up and running successfully.
TDCJ confirmed that they received the email with the guidance for submitting a one-year no-cost extension (NCE) for the grant.
