Objective 7: Facilitate the adoption and implementation of Justice Counts in additional states. (Light Touch States)?
In Arkansas, CSG Justice Center staff were on site to participate in Arkansas Jail Resource Day, where they presented to 40 agencies, met with a state senator who will be a Justice Counts champion in the state, and also met with representatives from LaFourche, LA Parish Sheriff's Office, Clay County Sheriff, and the Arkansas Post-Prison Transfer Board.?Offsite, CSG Justice Center staff met with the City of England mayor to provide an overview of Justice Counts.
In California, CSG Justice Center staff compiled talking points about Justice Counts and how Justice Counts can support the work of public defense agencies to be used at a BJA presentation to seven defense agencies.?
In Indiana, CSG Justice Center staff were on site to meet with Spencer County Justice Reinvestment Advisory Councils (JRAC) members, the Warrick County JRAC Chair, and the Dubois County JRAC chair. Offsite, CSG Justice Center staff presented to the Monroe County JRAC and conducted onboarding sessions with Monroe County Community Corrections, Monroe County JRAC, Decatur County Court Services, Johnson County Court Services, Tipton County Probation, Martin County Community Corrections, the Howard County Sheriff, Monroe County JRAC, Johnson County Court Services and Howard County Community Supervision. CSG Justice Center staff also met with the Howard County JRAC, Marion County Community Corrections and the Warrick County Public Defender to discuss ways that materials could be developed using their data. This resulted in an opt in from Dubois County Community Corrections as well as a stakeholder referral to community supervision leaders in Daviess County. CSG Justice Center staff also introduced the project to the Floyd County JRAC's Mental Health and Addiction Subcommittee and stakeholders in Rush County.?CSG Justice Center staff met with the Harrison County JRAC to plan for an upcoming site visit and met with the George Mason University Department of Criminology, Law and Society, working in Indiana to identify pathways for collaboration.
In Iowa, CSG Justice Center staff had a follow up conversation with a Des Moines city councilman and introduced the project to the Des Moines mayor, who agreed to be a Justice Counts champion, and to the Newton Police Department, the Winterset Police Department, the Des Moines Police Department, and the Adel Police Department. CSG Justice Center staff also provided technical assistance to the Mitchellville Police Department. The Winterset Police Department opted in and completed their first onboarding session. ?
In Michigan, CSG Justice Center staff were on site to present to leaders in Saginaw, and to meet with agencies in Saginaw and Genesee County. The Genesee County Prosecutor's Office and Community Corrections Department both opted in. CSG Justice Center staff also connected with the Detroit Police Department and a jail and prison minister to discuss jail connections. ?
In Missouri, CSG Justice Center staff were on site and met with the Chesterfield Police Department, the O'Fallon Police Department, the Wentzville Police Department, the Lake St. Louis Police Department, the Maryland Heights Police Department, and the North County Police Cooperative. They also met with the St. Louis CJCC to provide updates and strategize ways to connect with more St. Louis agencies. Offsite, CSG Justice Center staff met with the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, and Christian County Prosecuting Attorney's Office to discuss potential data products, and to discuss Karpel data categories. CSG Justice Center staff met with the Kansas City Police Department, to discuss next steps on agency engagement, reconnected with the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, introduced the project to the Greene County Sheriff's Office and the Task Force on Criminal Justice, and met with the Missouri Association of Counties to introduce the project and discuss upcoming conferences. CSG Justice Center staff presented to the St. Louis Area Police Chiefs Association and conducted onboarding sessions with the St. Ann Police Department, the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court, the Bolivar Police Department, the Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Johnson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, 22nd Judicial Circuit Court, St. Ann Police Department, the Christian County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, Andrew County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Bolivar Police Department, the St. Charles County Police Department, the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Fair Grove Police Department.
In North Dakota, CSG Justice Center staff met with Centre, Inc. to introduce the project and discuss next steps towards opting in.?
In Ohio, CSG Justice Center staff met with agency leaders in Akron and the Summit Country Department of Public Safety to introduce the project. ?
In Pennsylvania, CSG Justice Center conducted an onboarding session with the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office. ?
In Texas, CSG Justice Center staff met with Lexipol to introduce the project and discuss how Justice Counts could work with jails in Texas.?
CSG Justice Center staff attended a conference for the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement where they connected with the Police Review Council Fairfax, VA, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Alexandria, VA Police Department, the Civilian Complaint Review Board, the New Haven, CT Police Oversight Committee, the Rochester Police Accountability Board, the National City, CA Community Police Relations Commission, the City of Phoenix Office of Accountability and Transparency, the Sacramento Office of Public Safety and Accountability, the Cleveland Office of Professional Standards, the New Orleans Office of the Independent Police Monitor, the Kings County, WA Office of Law Enforcement Oversight, the Center for Policing, the City of Madison, WI Civilian Police Oversight Board, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office and City of Berkley, CA. ?
In Vermont, CSG Justice Center staff met with the Vermont Department of Corrections to provide an overview of Justice Counts.
In Washington, CSG Justice Center staff met with Yakima County Pre-Trial Services, who opted in, the Office of the Governor, the Pierce County Board of County Commissioners, the Jefferson County Commissioner, the Thurston County Superior Court, the Pierce County Superior Court Clerk's Office, and the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs to introduce the project, and conducted onboarding sessions with Yakima County Pretrial Court Services. ?
