LISC delivered a presentation for Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) to about 32 staff from CVI organizations on federal resources for CVI organizations and discussed capacity building around application development. The symposium was designed to bring together violence interrupters (VI) from various programs across the nation for mutual learning, collaboration, and advocacy. It built on the findings and recommendations from FCNL’s recently published VI white paper, “Rooted in Restorative Justice, Violence Interrupters Increase the Peace.†The purpose of the white paper was to provide a scholarly work to support the important work that VI's engage in around the country. The symposium offered a platform to exchange insights, strategies, and challenges in violence prevention. Attendees gained access to valuable federal grant resources, opportunities for relationship building, knowledge sharing, public visibility, and advocacy training. Attendees also had the opportunity to conduct congressional outreach and meet with representatives from the White House Office of Gun Violence.
