July–September 2024 Reporting Period:

Intelligence Summit Task Teams

The intelligence summit task teams continued to meet during the current reporting period. During this reporting period, IIR continued managing the CICC’s six Intelligence Summit Focus Area Task Teams. In January 2024, task DHS prioritized team deliverables for completion.

Task Teams 1 and 4—As noted in the previous reporting period, Task Teams 1 and 4 merged their collective efforts. This was done to improve efficiencies and to reduce duplication of effort between the Task Teams. The combined group plans to complete its work on the position paper and provide a briefing during the IACP annual conference in Boston, Massachusetts in October 2024.

Task Team 2—In July of 2024, the Undersecretary for DHS Intelligence and Analysis requested a status briefing related to task team progress and continuing initiatives. The briefing was attended by the CICC chair and co-chair, members of the DHS project management team and IIR personnel responsible for performing work.

The following activities occurred as a result of the discussion.

Project Goal defined:

Develop and publish a guidance document addressing national guidance and best practices for federal and SLTT law enforcement, intelligence, and public safety information sharing during steady and crisis state environments. (IT Platform agnostic)

Task Team 5—During this period, TT5 developed and worked to refine an automated intelligence training inventory form designed to populate a training matrix with available intelligence training. The inventory form and instructions were sent to all GAC and CICC members and partners. The task team will begin its initial data analysis in early
November 2024.

Task Teams 3 and 6—As noted in a previous reporting period, Task Teams 3 and 6 merged their collective efforts. During this reporting period, the combined task teams met weekly to develop a requirements document for the data, hardware, and software standards. In addition, the task team chairs consulted directly with DHS to develop an implementation road map. The task team chairs briefed the team’s latest efforts during the IACP Conference in October in Boston.
