This training was delivered in collaboration with the Collaborative Reform Initiative Technical Assistance Center. The Take Action: Make the R.I.G.H.T. Choice and Intervene training is an eight-hour instructor-led course designed to teach, encourage, and empower law enforcement personnel to actively intervene when needed to prevent colleagues from committing policy or procedure mistakes or unprofessional, unethical, or criminal conduct. Officers will learn the powerful influence that every officer, regardless of rank, can have on a colleague’s conduct and behavior. As peer bystander intervention becomes an ingrained part of a department’s culture, benefits may include fewer citizen complaints, fewer instances of misconduct, a decrease in the use of excessive force, an increase in officer safety and wellness, fewer disciplinary issues, increased retention of employees, and increased trust from the community. An eight-hour train-the-trainer (T3) course is also available to develop agency instructors to teach the material to their agency. The base training had 4 participants, while the base training and T3 had 9 participants, for a total of 13 participants.
