Successes
Connection with the Gang Prevention Unit at Houston PD to establish a more consistent schedule for their curriculum
Potentially partnering with the school district on new mandate to have one person on each campus who is trained to use Naloxone
Contract with community partner, Center for Recovery, is almost finalized
Contract with data evaluator is almost finalized
Community liaison conducted a class with a local homeless shelter and is doing reentry work

Challenges
Texas Education Agency (TEA) took over all schools - Eliminated community programs and extra-curriculars
Consistency with scheduling classes
Lack of access to data
Their connection at the University of Houston got cut off from the data being provided from the pharmacy board
Working on a solution where the data would go through the comptrollers office instead
Bureaucracy - Difficult to get contracts finalized and city council approval
Officer buy in - Seems like the issue is more 'not my department, not my problem' mentality rather than a lack of compassion for the issues they are addressing
