The purpose of this in-person meeting was to review the progress being made with the FY21 VCR grant, its estimated close-out, and the start date for the FY23 VCR grant.
The Chief explained unanticipated delays with the close-out of the FY21 VCR grant but stated that the remaining balance for the FY21 VCR grant will have been spent down by September 30, 2024, and the department will be able to promptly move into the FY23 VCR grant. Given the achievements made through the FY21 grant award, the Chief has been rethinking the focus of the FY23 grant award, moving from a continuation of the reactive response posture of the department to more of one of enhancing community engagement and early intervention efforts with external social service partners.
